VENA FAMILY

Connected Health Family

vena_inhaler-proped-up

I was project manager and lead industrial designer for this demo created in 2009 for Cambridge Consultants. We created the original demo (with the Vena inhaler) from scratch – that is from the initial story line to finished working prototype and connected web pages – in 7 weeks flat. Bare in mind that back in 2009, none of this type of outcome-based systems existed or was even demoed.
After the initial concept, we added elements and prototypes to create the vena family. This demo put Cambridge Consultants on the map of connected health experts, and paved the way to a successful new line of projects for Cambridge Consultants.
To understand in earnest the concept and achievement behind the Vena family of products, watch the following video about how Vena closes the loop of connected health. (remember, again, this is 2009)

The underlying angle and differentiator here is that while a lot of systems out there provide the feedback loop in the cloud, very few people provide the last chain link in the chain, that is the physical connected device that removes human interaction (and with it human error and bias) from the loop.

EXTENDING THE FAMILY

We extended the vena family to include the Vena Hub, to connect third party devices,  Vena add-ons, allowing to connect medical devices without changing their design, simplifying development and the regulatory pathwaym or Vena Pen
